TOUR DE FRANCE EVENING

1st of March 6.30pm
We have been contacted by Karl Woolcott from House of Travel Taupo (recently moved from Wellington). For the past 10 years he’s run Adventure Travel and organised Tour de France cycling trips for kiwis.
He is going to present a Tour de France evening at Kaimai cycles on Thursday the 1st of March starting at 6.30pm. He starts with some photos, move on to the nuts and bolts of how their TDF trips work and then finishes with questions.
Accompanied by a beer or two.
This is not a hard sell but should be quite interesting for those thinking they'd like to attend this event some time in the future! If we get enough interest then maybe we could look at a Kaimai group going in 2013 for the 100th running.
Please register your interest with me…

BG Fit Updates

Welcome to our first Specialized BG Fit update.

For those of you still unfamiliar with BG Fit, it is the bike fit system designed by Specialized which we believe is the most thorough and comprehensive bike fit system in the world.
Response to our first couple of weeks has been fantastic. Each fit is taking anywhere from 3 – 5 hours depending on any issues we come across during the 1 ½ hour pre-assessment process.

This pre-assessment process is the key difference between a BG Fit and all others. It allows the fitter to establish how and why a change may be needed and explain it to the customer so it all makes sense.

If you are thinking “how can it take that long” well this is why. You get an initial interview which takes approx ¼ hour. The pre-assessment process takes approx 1 ½ hours (top to bottom body analysis). We take photos of you on your bike before we start and record all original measurements from bike. Then you are on the bike until we both are happy. More photos and measurements, paperwork and discussion. It is at least 3 hours of non stop, uninterrupted one on one consultation with lots of discussion and questions.I hope you can see why we are excited by this system.

We have invested heavily in every thing needed to do a comprehensive fit including handlebars, stems, seats, posts, shoes, cleat wedges, foot beds etc.
You also need to be prepared to sweat. This is not just another soft bike fit where you just fluff around with some dots and lines on your legs. Once we have you 90% right we increase loads and effort to see how your body behaves in the real world. Most people have not been prepared for this and you need to bring a towel and water bottles and a change of clothes.

No longer should you have to be sore or uncomfortable and think that this is just part of cycling. Be prepared for change !!
I have yet to see a normal body that ticks all the boxes and every customer has presented something unique to work with. Remember, we make the bike fit your body, not the body fit the bike which is what I am seeing constantly.

By the time you read this Rex will have done about 40 Fits
.
The BG Fit Cave

That’s approx 200 hours of non stop intensive work with riders ranging from 18 years old to 70 Years young, social weekend warriors to top ranked NZ athletes.
We have helped with all sorts of issues including sore necks, shoulders, backs, hips, butts, knees, ankles, feet etc. Don’t forget numb hands, feet and other bits.

Flash piece of kit

Most people do not realise how uncomfortable they actually are !!
After your fit you leave with a usb stick with how you look before and after your session. These videos are shown on the big screen during the fit and the processes explained as we go so you can understand how and why something may be changed. We are the only BG Fit Store offering this service as part of a BG Fit.
Bookings resume from Monday the 9th of January. Don’t forget it’s a 7.30 am start and be prepared for 4-5 hours of fun and learning. Feel free to ask any questions and bookings are essential.
